I Stayed in Hong Kong

So this is like the first weekend I am staying in Hong Kong. I guess it was to stay stable for a minute. I did the usual that week; you know going to school, eating out with friends, and etc. etc. Couple fun things happened, but Hong Kong is not a really happening place I think. Lan Kwai Fong is the drinking haven for the foreigners, but it is usually mediocre looking businessmen preying for young women outside of 7/11 in the streets of Lan Kwai Fong. Like I said, this is nothing like Hongdae of South Korea. Fun things do happen in Hong Kong, like Wednesday (February12, 2014), the Americans, Hannah, Mary, Rachel, Jess, and I, and the UKs, Ffian and Yas, had wine night! It was time to have some serious girl talk and kiki about our time in Hong Kong. I think we got a little too drunk… We spilled our wines all over Hannah and Jess’s room. It was about a bottle of wine in for me and I don’t know how much for the girls, but it was time for a twerk lessons. I put my feet up the wall, and I was back in Atlanta! It was ratchet as fuck, and Yas took these lessons to heart. Our goal is that she will become a twerking goddess by the time she is done with this program! We have some work to do! I was going ham on my second bottle when Ffian told me that I need a skateboard for her group H.K.S.A. (Hong Kong Skateboard Association). We took an adventure around campus looking for a lonely skateboard… We found one. We are bad people, but we gently took it to my room, and we ran into Sami, Troy, and other people drinking in the lobby of my floor! Ffian and I joined them for a minute to promote our club, H.K.S.A.. After that was over, we headed back to the wine night. We had our skateboards in hand, and now, I am the official second member of H.K.S.A. what a privilege! I was done; after two bottles of wine, I was ready to call it quits. I went to my room to find that there is a party there too! I joined Sami, Troy and the group I met earlier with Ffian. They were drinking and having a good time. They decided a McDonalds run was appropriate for this time of night. They weren’t wrong. I joined them, but I know I didn’t get anything to eat. I just went back home and passed the fuck out. End of a successful wine night.
Valentine’s Day kinda sucked. I guess I was just a little lonely.

The next big event was a hike on the Lamma Island Saturday (February 15, 2014). First of all, I don’t hike. Second of all, I don’t fucking hike. You see where this story is going. I was complaining the entire time with Yas as we climb the path across this island. There were coalmines, nice graffiti, and a beach. It wasn’t all bad I guess. It made me realize that I need to get back in shape. Davey, Ffian, Yas, and I stuck together for the hike. We complained together the whole time, how great is that! We took the ferry back to the motherland, and all we talked about was our movie preferences. From the dock, we kept our quotes of Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2 coming. The laughing never stopped. When we got home, Ali, Jordan, and I didn’t have much time to get ready for a tryout for the water polo team in Hong Kong. We took the bus to Wan Chai Swimming Pool. Well, we took the bus to Wan Chai, and had some serous struggles getting into the pool. Thanks for no signs bitches. It was time for my Breaking and Entering skills to come into play. I managed get the girls and I into the pool through the back door. Now I am an expert in getting into the pool. We did our tryout, which is only a 200 freestyle swim. It was cake. Since we were done, we took our trip back, and I got ready to go out. LKF it is. As much as I hate it, it is the only source of entertainment at nights in Hong Kong. We predrank at Hannah and Jess’s room again, and we were out. Walked into a club called Midnight with Poly, Yas, and other people, and there ended up being heaps of people I knew there. The music was really repetitive, so we walked out, and it began. The night of just staying outside of 7/11 and drinking in the streets, same old same old. This is my week in Hong Kong, when I don’t travel.

Short but Sweet (Bangkok)

Back in Bangkok, it was just a chill time for Jordan, Kasia, Sami, and me. The rest of the group had to do couple things in a rush. We went out to the night market in Patpong and enjoyed a night of shopping, and a brief encounter with the red-light district and gay bars. Hannah, Sami, Kasia and I were not done after the night market, so we stayed up for couple more drinks in front of our hostel! Saturday (February 8, 2014), I separated from the group for a pool party with couple friends I know in Thailand! It was fun, but I couldn’t stay for the whole time because its time for a party. I got a ride on a back of a motorcycle from a friend at the party, and I got together with Rachel, Leah, Hannah, John, and Mary for street food dinner. I was pretty drunk… They need to catch up! We met up with Jordan, Kasia, and Sami just in time for the club! We went out to dance and at midnight of February 9, 2014, we had our tequila shot to celebrate Rachel’s birthday. We danced baby! We danced hard. Until well the birthday girl ran out of the club crying… It was a surprise to say the least. Ummmm so leah took her to bed and she texted me, “Do you know why she cries every birthday? She said she’s been crying every birthday since 7.” I reply, “no I’ve only known her for 4 weeks…”

We continued the party for a little longer after the birthday girl was out! It was fun. The next morning, people are hung the fuck over, and it is time to hop on the flight. We had some minor mishaps like people going missing and not staying with the group and changing flight times and etc. but at the end of the day, we all got to Hong Kong safe and sound. It is time for bed! What a great trip for Lunar New Year!

Beach Time

I’m in Phuket! It’s Sunday (February 2, 2014) we got to the house really late, and we were tired out of our mind. We had some serious struggles in founding the house because we couldn’t communicate with our other group… Was like finding a needle in a haystack, but we managed! Yay we are all together! I needed a drink as soon as I got to the house though, so that’s what I did. Since it was Election Day, they didn’t serve alcohol, but came midnight, it was a free-for-all for that juice! I grab couple bottles of beer, and a group of us went to the beach in the pitch-black darkness. I finally got to see stars again. The little things people, the little things. In the traditions of my family, I went skinny-dipping in the waters of Phuket! Everyone basically joined me; it was nice to be in the ocean! Got kind of drunk, and off the bed we went, it was a long day and night.
The next day was so hard on me. I laid at the beach all day and drank beer and cocktails and soaked in the sun! Fuck, my life is hard… We explored the beach some and couple people got massages, and it was just nice to get out of the city and relax. I needed this. Although, I had this while I was in Australia! I had a nice little base tan, so I just got more tan. While the other, BURNED!!! It was bad; it looked bad. My heart went out to them, and so did my laughter! Hahaha Later that night, we all as a happy went out to dinner together, and we all enjoyed a lovely meal except for some minor mishaps… We called it an early night because we knew there was a long day ahead of us the next day, so we called it quiets and went to bed!
We woke up early on Tuesday (February 4, 2014) for elephants and monkeys! We rode a crazy car ride to the temple for monkeys, and everyone seemed like they were sick (Except me, I don’t get motion sickness). I got to touch, feed, and hold these monkeys and climb parts of the temple. It was still early, and I felt we were off to a great start! Another crazy car ride later, we were at what seems to be a rainforest! I’m exaggerating. We were at like a woods on the side of the rode. We venture down to find a river, and there were canoes, and we were guided down the stream for about an hour and a half just enjoying the sunshine and sights from this peaceful river!
Once the river was done, it was time to zip line while they prepared our food! Uneventful zip lines later, we had an amazing lunch provided by the tour company! Oh my god was it good! Or we were just hungry, but the group agreed, the food was amazeballs! From the meal, we were taken again to another destination, a little off roading I might add, we were with the elephants! We waited for ages, and it was our turn! We took a stroll down and about on the backs of elephants. Now I can cross that off my list. One of my missions on the list of things to do abroad is crossed off! YAY! We were home, and we were beat. I was tired honey, and I needed a drink. After another night of drinking, and skinny dip for me, we went to bed.

Wednesday, we spent the morning just lazing around the house, and in the afternoon, we went out boating. A trip out to nowhere to go snorking, and than to a beach on a not so remote (heaps of people on this island) for a little fun time on the beach! A minor accident with Hannah and corals made me a hero! Hey that rhymes! We sailed back to mainland! Again the day was long, so we just rested with drinks and good convos. The next day was uneventful, just a chill last day at the beach and massages. Jordan, Kasia, Sami, and I were on the plane again for our trip back to Bangkok. We got a airport hotel for the night and we would see the rest of the team in the morning of Friday.

Bangkok Life

So get this, I landed in Hong Kong Tuesday (January 28, 2014) afternoon and went to the flower market that night with Hannah, Leah, Mary, and Jordan. It was cute, but not my cup of tea. Everyone is buying flowers for the New Year. I know Hong Kong might be doing some cool shit, but I do Lunar New Year every year, so it’s not as special as the Anglo-Saxons. Haha. I went to class on Wednesday like normal, and couple of us went out for Korean BBQ. After the food in Korea, the Korean food here became extremely mediocre. Oh well, now I learned, so after dinner, I got back to the dorms and packed my bags for a flight at 2am to Thailand. That is right people, I just got off the plane one and a half days ago, and I’m off again. Sami, Jordan, Kasia, and I were going on a Thai adventure! The flight is 2 hours, and we don’t have a place to stay the night, and we don’t want to travel at night. This is how shit went down. We slept at the airport! After what seemed like a bad nights rest, we took a train to the city center and a cab to our hostel in Khao San. We were in heaven! The weather was fantastic, and the street looked relatively safe, and we were ready to explore. I was kind of their guide cause I’ve been here before, but obviously, I wasn’t very good because I got us lost. We did make it to a temple of some sort, and in Thailand all temples are gorgeous! The world was saved.
We got back later and checked into the hostel. We needed to take a break and sleep. It’s time to turn up! We went out to dinner, and I got a nice piece of chicken. We walked around KS just being tourist and drinking our beers. Although the nap was good, we still needed to rest, so we called it an early night.
The next morning (January 31, 2014), we went to the Grand Palace and the Wat Pho. I’ve already seen these things, but it never ceases to get boring. We had our new years dinner after got back from a day of touring and a nap. It was so hot in Thailand that we just had to come back for naps… So fucking exhausting. That night was special, we met up with Jaime and Will! The two crazy Canadians from my trip in Melbourne! What is life? I get to meet people from all around the world from everywhere around the world. We start out with couple hellos and drinks and got to meet some of their friends they made here. It was nice to see them and we just got drunk! But we had other plans in mind. Jordan, Kasia, Sami, and I wanted to visit the strip clubs of Thailand. It was rather disappointing because of my knowledge about their status of working as a sex worker in Thailand is not something that is very voluntary. We did some mediocre shopping and went back home! On our way back home, I see Jaime and Will off on the tuk tuk… They got off, and we went for a dance! As usual with these cats, it was a crazy night.
It was Saturday, and we were all really tired from the night before. Oh well! We went to the Golden Mountain and small temple near there. It was cute. Kind of a quiet day because of everyone anticipating the coming election, so today no alcohol was being served… fuck… so a restful night it was after a failed attempt at going to another redlight district in Bangkok.
Sunday (February 2, 2014), we were on a flight to Phuket to meet up with the rest of our crew that just arrived. We had such a hard time finding the house, but we did it.

To be continued!
