It Has Been a While

Back in Hong Kong and the drinking started again on Wednesgay (April 16, 2014) at Play. I recovered fast from Song Kran… Most of us went out that night, and of course, Yas is on us like a mom telling us the countdown to how long we have with the free vodka. Once it was done, it was time to dance and party. I showed off couple moves on the pole, and “Drunk in Love” came on. It was over. Play always had good music… Well sort of. Tonight was different; Ffi started testing out her Philippines gay bar skills out at Play. She started mingling with the gay boys for a drink or two. Yas and the rest of the people (people in their right minds) decided to leave, and told Ffi, Joe, and I that they were going. I went over to Ffi, and she has done it again; champagne for all three of us! How nice is that! There were two bottles to be consumed, so we did. Once it was done, Ffi moved over to the next victim. The next victim had a bottle of Belvedere with our names on it. I looked at it, and there was no way I could drink it. We got pretty far down on it, and Ffi was sloshed. We left Play, and the disaster started; Ffi is an independent women. This side of Ffi never wants to go home, and she thinks she is good to make it home by herself, which is never the case. I was really tired, so I looked at Joe, and he told me he would get her home. Ffi told me to go home by myself. She ditched me! She will never live it down! That bitch just told me to go home by myself.
I took the mini bus home and on my way to the halls I got hungry. You know it’s depressing when you are out with your friends and you end up at McD’s by yourself. What is more depressing is that there is someone you know in McD’s and they took a picture of you. This is your entire fault Ffian! Thanks Cory and Glenna for eating with me at McDonalds at 4am.
When I got home, I got a little slip of paper under my door saying I received a package! How nice! I was too tired to go and see, so I waited till the next morning to find out. It was a care-package from Jon and Craig! I was so happy, and I got an awesome hat! Thanks Jon and Craig!
The rest of the week was more cuppa and chillin out at the dorms until Sunday (April 20, 2014). A big group of us went to the infinity pool in Hong Kong. I know it’s not Marina Bay Sands, but it was cute. There was a damn built on the waterfall, and the dam became the infinity pool. During this trip, I became one of the lads with the Irish boys! Once we got back to the dorms after a nice meal at Subways, it was too late, but it wasn’t late enough for us to prevent us from grabbing a beer or two on the roof of the dorms. Now it was Ffian and my spot. This roof will become our second home.

The days leading up to my birthday were nice! Spent a lot of time on the roof, and I was getting myself ready for my trip to Cambodia! The midnight of my birthday, I was on the roof with Laura and Ffian, and they were the first to wish me a happy birthday! A nice cuppa tea and a little photo-shoot, and I was in bed.

Song Kran

In Bangkok, I went for the Thailand New Years! It’s called Song Kran; it was amazing! I arrived early Friday morning, and I checked into the W Hotel Bangkok. I went to bed because I was exhausted. The next morning, I had breakfast and worked on my paper; it was only a waiting game for Stephen to come so that we can get the ball rolling with these parties! Stephen and I had dinner in the city. After the dinner part was over, it was time for the partying. We went to Silom and walked into a strip club and watched a show, and got a little tipsy over the time being. Not a fun show by the way, but I was drinking so it didn’t matter too much. From the show to the hotel to change for the first night’s party, and the theme is White Party. I was in all white, and Stephan and I strolled into what seemed like a big arena of men pumping their fist to the music! I should have worked out a little bit before this party, but that thought left as the drinks took over and my shirt was off. It’s five in the morning, and Stephen and I went home and passed out.
The next morning, it hit us that hangover is real. We tried our best to keep food down at breakfast and look alive, but we weren’t doing a good job. Good thing was, we weren’t alone. Many other Song Kran party animals stayed at the W Hotel, and we could tell who went out and partied the night before (April 11, 2014). It was Saturday (April 12, 2014). We walked around the Silom looking for lunch after some pool time; it was really unproductive because we were so hungover, but we pushed through the day, and picked up some water guns for the festivities tomorrow. We got dinner and took a resting period before we went out to the same arena for the party. This was the main party night, and it was nuts! I was dancing and snapping pictures with model boys handing out free swag all night along. We were both plastered, and I was hungry. This is never good. We came back home and I ordered me a nice cheeseburger for me to devour. Stephan took half, but I got all the potato wedges! YAY!
If you aren’t getting the idea that this weekend was a drinking holiday for me then you are not very bright. Sunday was the actual day of the Song Kran Festival. The holiday is a water holiday where the Thai people bring in their new year by splashing everything with water. With this holiday in Thailand, it was only time before it got really touristy. I fell for the trap, but it didn’t matter because I was having fun, and fuck it, I am a tourist. We splashed and shot our water guns everywhere. We found a little nook with bars and drank and soaked everyone! It was a good time; we took refuge in our hotel after some beers because we had to get ready for the Song Kran Boy’s pool party. Like always, a drink in hand, a good dance music, and boys, what more do you need? We stayed for couple hours partying away in our swimsuits with other boys in swimsuits. Only when we were hungry did we think to leave. After the pool party, food and more of the water splashing festivities!
That night was the closing night of the parties in the arena. There were no signs of people slowing down or calling it quits after the chaotic weekend we’ve had. The music was still pumping, and the liquor was still flowing. Once again we left and ordered a cheeseburger, which I shared with drunken Stephen, and I had the potato wedges!

Monday morning, it was all over, and I have survived Bangkok Song Kran 2014 (barely). After a nice breakfast, Stephen and I headed over to the airport, and I was back home in Hong Kong. I told myself I’m never drinking ever again. Let’s see how long that lasts.

Drinking in Hong Kong

Back in Hong Kong to the miserable weather, it was really rainy the whole time, so one night, Pol, Ffi, and I decided to go out! This resulted in our lovely Saturday night! We got dolled up, and went out to the most exciting place Hong Kong has to offer! Wait for it! LKF… Fuck!!!! It was another night of standing outside of 7/11 and Big Pizza meeting all of our friends. I just really wanted to dance, so we ventured to Fly to get our groove on! The music was on point I will say this particular day. Pol ran into Jacob and they were going to wait for us in Graffiti. Warning, never leave Ffian and I to find a club on our own. We went to Beijing Club, and Ffian worked her charms to get us free drinks for a while. We were pretty drunk and we made out way to the club where we were supposed to meet. At this time, Pol and Jacob disappeared, and the Lads (the Irish boys) were left waiting. We made the best of it! Went into a shady bar, as they play “How Many Licks” by Lil’ Kim, I knew I was home! A little more dancing later, I was ready for home, so we all got ourselves together and we were going down to the bus stop. Larkin (one of the Lads), Joe, and I got left behind. We got couple more drinks and had bro talk! It was nice to say the least. It was nice to get to know these fellas a little more.
I paid the price Sunday (April 6, 2014). Went to bed too late and too drunk. I was really unproductive. The rest of the week kinda played out the same way with Wednesgay in the middle of it all… I’m sure something happened this week, but I don’t have pictures of it, therefore I cannot remember.
Wednesgay is our weekly event we go to in a club called Play in LKF. The vodka is poured for free from 22:30 to midnight. We go and conquer the drinks for an hour and a half. Once the liquor kicks in, we go to the dance floor and dance the night away. The music in the club is to my liking! Destiny Child, Beyoncé, and some old school music, it gets the job done! Man, do we love Wednesgay; it was a shock to all of us to find out Wednesgay isn’t called Wednesgay… It is actually called Foreplay, but Wednesgay rolls off the tongue more.
The night after Wednesgay, I am on the bus to the airport to head over the Bangkok for Song Kran, and everything went wrong. This is when I realized I had the best of friends. I left my passport in my room halfway to the airport. Thank the lord Wi-Fi was available on the bus. I contacted Ffian and told her to get in a cab and get to the airport with my passport. We don’t have a way of communicating with each other this whole time. I only have faith in her to bring me the passport. This is ultimate trust exercise. No phones no Internet, just get to the airport with my passport. She did arrive in time with my passport! I was so happy!

I saw her off, and I get to the check-in counter of Hong Kong Express Airlines, and I found out my flight was booked for the wrong date. FUCK!!! My flight was suppose to leave Thursday morning at 00:55… I pay a small fee, and I finally manage to get to Bangkok.

My Spring Break

I took a vacation! I went to the Boracay, Philippines. After 3 weeks in Hong Kong, I needed to get out! Early morning, Ffian, Polly, James, and I took the night bus to the airport and met with Mary, Hannah, and John. We were now on our way! The flight to Manila was a pleasant flight, and at the airport, we met with LV, Mary’s cousin from who lives in the Philippines. She basically guided us from Manila to Boracay. Good thing to because we would have been extremely lost without her. We flew from Manila to Kalibo, and took a 2-hour bus to a ferry. This ferry took us to the island of Boracay, and we took a tuk tuk to our hostel. Overall a 12-hour journey, but it was made all worth it once we saw the beach and had Mexican food! Thank god I had good company, or this journey would have been miserable. After the dinner we had couple more drinks, and we hit the sack because we have been on this journey since 4am.
The next day (March 28, 2014), I woke up a little later and headed to the beach! It was beautiful! I guess this can be considered my spring break, and it topped all spring breaks I saw on Facebook! The rest of the group joined us this day! It was somewhat action packed! We didn’t just sit around the beach drinking all day, we did banana boating, and well… Shit all we did was drink. Oh well, it was cheap! We spent the whole the day on the beach laying around and being lazy! It was a though week at school for most of us, so a little break was really nice. Dinnertime was nice! We went to the Boracay fish market, which is in district one of the island. (There are districts in Boracay, so Hunger Games reference was constant!) We bought all the fish and took it to the restaurant next door, and they cooked everything for us! How nice! I had fresh squid, red fish, and prawns! We ate like kings. Naturally after we were done eating… we went and sat around the beach drinking some mediocre rum! Surprise! We called it an early night.
The next morning, we took a party boat to Ariel’s Point. It seems like all the young tourists gather there to do the simple things in life like fall to your death from a cliff! We went cliff jumping there! Ffian and I are overly competitive, so we made a bet saying who can jump off the highest jump on the cliff jumping. There were 8 meter, 10 meter and 15 meter jumps. Of course I won! There was serious taunting from Ffi, so that is why I won! The alcohol was provided on the tour, so we drank till our hearts content! Rum and coke will never be the same! From the cliff diving, we went swim, snorkeling, and kayaking! I pushed Trent as he was getting his phone ready for the water, resulting in a open water proof bag with a phone being in the bottom of the ocean… Which I dove down to get for him! I was too drunk to know what I was doing! Rachel stepped on a sea urchin, and Hannah bruised her entire leg while cliff jumping, and Carlo scratched his arm when Ffi was bringing him up. 3 down couple more to go. The drinks were provided till we got off the boat back to our district! Ffi and I were too drunk! We runway walked, and I don’t remember much. Supposedly, I ordered pizza, and Ffi lost my towel. We both passed out. I guess the rest of my friends helped us to our beds because that’s where I woke up… I woke up around 10pm and I was hungry and hung over. I went to drink and eat with Polly, James, and Zach, but I was really tired so I went back in.
On way back in, I ran into Ffian, who I thought was dead, and Hannah. This is around midnight, so I went with them back to the main beach away from the hostel to grab a water bottle with them. Ffi hasn’t had the best of days that’s for sure. Ffi lost her purse, so no money, no card, and no ID. To lift her spirit, I asked her to explore with me, and let’s make it over to this gay bar called Juice Bar. We walked for what seemed like ages, and as we decide to give up on our hunt for this mystical bar called Juice Bar there it was. We walked in and got ourselves couple drinks. We started getting really friendly with this guy, who I do not know the name of, but we got along well! The manager came by and gave of couple free drinks and danced with us. Throughout the night Ffi and I were mentioning how drunk we were the night before not realizing that we passes out on the same day, got up, and drinking again. Came to be around 3 am, we walked back home drunk, and I went to bed.
Sunday (March 30, 2014), we went boating around the island of Boracay. It involved drinks and food, which we had no complaints about. The water there was unbelievably clear and the snorkeling life was amazing! The water was really rocky, but I managed to have a good time swimming around with the fishies! You know how it was 3 down from the cliff jumping, well Jess got seasick… Like really seasick. She couldn’t get back on the boat to go home, so her and Leah went back to our hostel in a cab. Not much really happened that night, we had dinner all together as a big family eating heaps of food on the beach! Afterwards, we followed the rest of the group to their bar they went partying when we were in Juice Bar, but it was empty and not fun, so couple of them called it an early night. Ffi, Pol, Antoine, Zach, Rachel, Trent, and I decided to keep trucking to Juice Bar. It’s our final night so we had to!
When we got there, we met up with the guys from last night and some new people from Aussie land! We had drinks with Popsicle in it, which were amazing. After the bar started cleaning, we thought it’d be an appropriate time to go skinny-dipping! So we did! Came back home and bed!

The next day was our leaving day! Time to go home bitches! We got to a tiny airport in Kalibo and after many minutes of delayed flight with no explanation, we got to Manila and from Manila to Hong Kong. Our flight from Manila to Hong Kong got upgraded to business class! Yay! We hopped on the bus home. That is how I did my Boracay!
