The Final Family Meeting

Just a week of getting everything done before the storm! Last minute projects and assignments are turned in! Thursday (December 12, 2013), we went out for Brazilian steaks in Sinchon and it was so good! Couple Singaporeans and you know, the usual Americans went and killed it; they gave us so much food it was insane. Called it a night after that. Friday after class, it was time for my final meeting with my family before I left Korea. Yes, it’s time for goodbyes. I’ve never been good at those. I take the KTX down to Pusan and see my aunt at the station. We drove off to have sushi for dinner; it’s been a long day, so we called it a night. We all woke up for one last breakfast together, and the meal was the Kimchi Soup that my aunt made for me the first day I arrived from Shanghai to Pusan. It was a great full circle to this trip. Thank you Aunt for making this trip to Korea amazing! When I was struggling you helped me in more ways than one. You have been like a mother to me this entire trip, and to know that I could call you about anything made me feel that much better about my trip to Korea. I just want to say Thank you again. I went back to bed after the breakfast because the Itis was real and when I woke up, everyone had left to go about their day. I just sat at home waiting for my oldest cousin to come pick me up to take me to my hometown, Masan. I called to tell everyone goodbye that I couldn’t meet, and made sure to tell them I’m coming back in like a month for my cousin’s wedding. I waited till around 5 and my aunt came back home so I did my final goodbyes to her for the time being. My oldest cousin picked me up shortly afterwards, and we were on our way with the kids to her little brother’s place for a nice sushi and oyster dinner. We sat at the dinner table laughing, drinking, and talking about past stories, experiences, and future, and I told them about my plans to come back in January. They told me they would try to make it to the wedding. We went to bed at around 3 am, and in the morning, my cousins and I went for breakfast at the house I was born to meet my uncle and aunt. The breakfast was delicious as usual, and the conversation was normal. We were all so disappointed that I could only stay for breakfast because I had to go back up Seoul early because there weren’t a lot of options for KTX from that town. I would say I had study for my finals, but I’d be lying. My family was sad to see me leave, especially my uncle. I will see them again soon! I came back up to Seoul and that was my 2nd to last weekend in Seoul.
