So far so good! First Friday in Tianjin (May 24, 2013) and
it is fun! China is cheap cheap cheap! For a fraction of the price in the
United States, we can get people so drunk! People will not be named, but they
are throwing up in bed, side of the taxi, bathrooms, sinks, and more. Alcohol is
kicking our ass! Needless to say our first week in Tianjin, we are going hard!
Most of us have been out most of the night this week! Classes are not really a
thing right now… I think once tests and grades start getting dished out, we
will realize it’s not all fun and games.
Today was an action packed day being stuck in a bus yet
again! First of all, I need to see a chiropractor for my back due to the
bumpiness of our bus ride! We rode out an hour and half to their Master Kong
noodle factory. I take it as the counterpart to our World of Coke. The Master
Kong place had an assembly line display and a movie to show us, but no
sampling!!! So mad!!!
After our short tour of the noodle factory, we rode out to Binhai
New Area model place where we got a glimpse of the newly developing business
center of Tianjin. The area will encompass the necessities of what is need to
make Tianjin a new business central for China. Pictures are attached!
After another an hour-long bus ride again, we made it a
dinner where we chowed down on some Chinese food, which was so good! We met up
with a guy named Doug Red, and he gave us a run down on the history of the
concessions in Tianjin. The group was taken to the Italian Concessions, which
was really like little Italy! Completely different from the Chinese part of
Tianjin!
The day was capped off with a keg of beer and a riverboat
cruise along the major river in Tianjin.
We were brought back to our hotel to rest to take on a
walking tour of Tianjin with Doug Red again tomorrow morning!
Over and out!
